Mr. Scott Huth has over 20 years of engineering experience, spanning military and commercial jet engines, gas turbines, and wind turbines, with more than 11 years dedicated to wind turbine blade engineering. He is currently serving as a Senior Wind Turbine Engineer at UL Solutions. He is responsible supporting the Wind Asset Advisory and Due Diligence teams on all Blade related projects. Mr. Huth has experience with wind turbine blade design, manufacturing and operation. Prior to UL solutions, Mr. Huth worked for a Wind Turbine OEM (GE) on blade design and integration into the turbine. Mr Huth has also worked at an owner / operator (RWE), providing engineering leadership to minimize blade operations costs. Mr. Huth has a BSME from the University of Detroit Mercy and a MSME from the University of Cincinnati.
Mr. Huth played a pivotal role in the development of the GE 2x-116 turbine blades, contributing to the entire product lifecycle—from aero downselect to detailed design, prototype testing, and manufacturing qualification.
Mr. Huth led the design of the innovative 2-piece blade for the GE Cypress and Sierra wind turbines. This project required establishing component and system level requirements for the jointed blade, creating a design to meet these requirements, working with manufacturing to develop the manufacturing process for new components, developing FEA and testing methods to validate the design. Mr. Huth received numerous patents for the work on this program.
